A dining table is one of the few things in a home that everyone touches every day, and it usually outlives the room it was bought for. Commissioning one to your own dimensions, in a material you have only seen on a screen, asks for a good deal of trust. This is what sits behind that decision at BeMade: the materials we buy, the stock we hold, the ways you can see and feel a surface before you commit, and the people who will be on the end of the phone afterwards.
Premium Materials, Tops and Bases Both
Every BeMade top is premium porcelain. It is fired at very high temperature and non-porous throughout, which is what makes it heat resistant, scratch resistant and shock resistant, and why it never needs sealing. Wine, oil, coffee and turmeric sit on the surface rather than soaking into it. The surface range currently runs to 28 stones across 32 surface and finish combinations, in three finishes: 16 polished, 13 natural and 3 silk. Marble characters, travertine and limestone characters, quartzites, deep bronzes and near-blacks are all in there. The same standard applies underneath. Our bases are fabricated from carbon steel and stainless steel, in eight designs across fourteen design and finish combinations, with nine finishes from Book Black and Graphite through to Champagne, Brass Teak and Cashmere Metal. They carry rectangular tops from 1600mm up to 3180mm long, and the Linea Dome takes a round top from 1200mm to 1580mm. Nothing is a stock frame bought in and badged. The chairs follow the same logic: three designs, three colourways each, chosen to sit properly against a stone top.
We Hold the Stock
Surfaces and bases are held in stock at our Preston works rather than ordered in once your deposit clears. It sounds like a small operational detail. It is the difference between a table that moves through the workshop on a schedule we control and one that waits on a container.
Holding stock also means the slab you choose is a slab we can put in front of you, and that a surface shown on the site is one we can actually build. If a particular stone runs low we say so at the point you are choosing it, rather than after you have ordered.
Three Ways to Be Sure Before You Order
Nobody should spend this kind of money on a surface they have only seen as a photograph. There are three steps, and you can take as many of them as you want.
1. Order samples
Samples are £20 per pair and the cost comes off your table order, so if you go ahead the samples have effectively cost you nothing. Order them from the configurator, put them on your worktop, carry them into the dining room, look at them in the morning and again under the lights at night. Finish in particular is close to impossible to judge on a screen, and a sample settles it in about ten seconds.
2. Book a free consultation call
If you would rather talk it through, book a call with one of our advisors. It is free, and it is a working conversation about your room: the size that suits your space, the clearance you need behind the chairs, whether the veining you like will read well at your table length, which base carries that top, how the finish will behave under your lighting. Most calls save people from a decision they would have regretted.
3. Come to the showroom
You are welcome to see the tables in person at Stone House, 107-109 Fletcher Road, Preston, Lancashire, PR1 5JG. The showroom is open Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm. Full slabs, finished tables, bases and chairs are all there to be touched, and you can put two surfaces side by side under the same light, which is the one comparison a screen can never give you.
Stone Is What We Know
BeMade came out of stone. Our Preston premises are shared with Granite Tops UK, and the fabrication knowledge behind a kitchen worktop is exactly the knowledge a porcelain dining table needs: how a large format slab behaves when it is cut, where it is vulnerable while it is being handled, how a mitred edge is built up so the table reads as a solid piece of stone rather than a thin sheet on a frame, and how to polish an edge so it feels right under your forearm.
That experience is the reason we are comfortable quoting tables at 3 metres, offering shaped and softened corners, and working with other porcelain brands or real marble when a project calls for it. It is also why the tables carry a five year warranty covering manufacturing defects in the slab, structural defects in the frame and assembly, and abnormal cracking or discolouration that is not caused by misuse. The number we are proudest of is this one: 68% of our sales come through word-of-mouth referrals. Bespoke furniture is not a category people recommend lightly, because a recommendation puts their own judgement on the line in front of a friend. More than two thirds of our business arriving that way is the clearest evidence we have that the tables land well once they are in the room.

Trade Accounts and Interior Designers
A good share of our work comes through interior designers, architects and trade clients, and the service is built for them. We operate trade accounts, we will talk through specification on a project basis, and we can supply samples for client presentations so a designer can put the real surface in front of the person signing off the scheme.
